I’ve been accused of having a one-track mind.

My wife and daughter often think my only thoughts are about radio and radio advertising. After just a few minutes with me, there’s a good chance you’ll come to the same conclusion…I guess there’s something to be said for consistency, right?

I guarantee you nothing could be farther from the truth.

To Do ListI’ve got a to-do list a mile long, stresses, appointments, time-stealers, time-wasters and time commitments just like you. And I wonder, “How in the world will I get it all done?!”

I want to give you this little piece of encouragement: Do it.

That’s not a command, it’s encouragement.

You’ve got your list of stuff that HAS to get done…stop stressing over it and do it. This article was one for me. Now look…for me, it’s done. Blog Article. For you, you’re almost done reading it.

For a couple years, I’ve had a great nugget of wisdom bouncing around my brain and this past weekend really brought it to the front of my consciousness. I attended the Social Media GPS 2012 Conference with Sandi Krakowski, PJ McClure and guest speaker Gary Vaynerchuk. (Caution: Unsolicited/Uncompensated Testimonial – if you EVER have a chance to see any one or all three of these amazing individuals – clear your calendar and GO!)

Here’s the piece of wisdom:

Q: When is the best time to plant a tree?

A: Twenty years ago.

Q: When is the second best time to plant a tree?

A: Now.

There’s nothing you can do about yesterday, last week, last month, five minutes ago. That “to do” list is still there. Do one thing today. Do one thing now. Grab your list, look at it, and pick one thing. Just one thing. Now, do it.

Come back later and cross that sucker off the list.

I’m not going to preach about time management, building momentum, staying focused – that’s for better qualified experts. I just wanted to help you get one thing done. One monkey off your back, one grey cloud blown away, one weight…dropped, one bag unpacked. Done.

Take a breath and just enjoy the feeling.

Now, you truly know, you accomplished something today. To your success.
